Launch & Learn: How to raise money for your business

The online bi-monthly workshop series hosted by our friends at the SBTDC, will help aspiring entrepreneurs across North Carolina to obtain the final “idea vetting” information they need before launching their start-up. The first Q&A session will be with John Austin, Senior Director of NC IDEA. John is the Founder of Groundwork Labs (now NC IDEA) and continues to work directly with founders who have been awarded NC IDEA grants.

Some topics to be discussed at the first Launch and Learn event:

• The three biggest needs for fundraising, including a lean business plan, a minimum viable product, and an early proof of demand
• Grant funding, including what organizations look for in recipients, why past recipients were selected, the best practices for obtaining grants, and the types of businesses that don’t fit with grant funding
• Self-funding, raising money from family and friends, and other fundraising options
